Hen Party giggles!

I haven’t written anything on here for so long!! It turns out that planning a wedding is a fairly stressful process, which takes up a large amount of time. So much has gone on since my last post wedding wise and I promise to fill you in soon but first it’s time to talk about the hen do.

Progress update…

Hello!

I know it has been a while since I posted but I promise I have still been wedding planning while squeezing in the odd bit of work ;-) So thought I’d post to give you a brief update on what I’ve been doing and how the planning is going.

Here’s a sneak peak…

Obsessed with dogs…urm nope not me!

Hello again,

This week I thought I’d tell you about my teeny, tiny obsession with dogs. Now I imagine you are thinking what does this have to do with your wedding. Well if you know me you’ll know that these two things are inextricably linked. Before you stop reading because you think I’m a crazy person, I’m not! Indulge me a little and read on, I’m not a complete mental :-)   (more…)

Wedding Diet = Bad times

Hello guys.

Another busy week and more wedding progress. It is now becoming very real, only 6 months away! So with that in mind I decided enough was enough, it was time to begin the wedding diet :-(

Floral excitement.

Hello all

First of all a huge apology. Last week I didn’t post purely because I was swamped at work. So I am very sorry that wedding chat had to take a back seat (shocking I know). Good news is I’m back this week and I am very excited because we have confirmed our florist!  (more…)

Just a quick one!

Hey People

First of all apologies for the length of this post. I am back to school and therefore super busy again. No more going out wedding bargain hunting for a while. However after my post last week I organised a charity shop trip with my lovely Auntie and I struck gold!

Wooden crate bargain price of a £5!

This one needs the most work. Getting rid of the flower pattern and painting it white.

Love this, not sure what for yet, but love it anyway.

Lovely detail

Already on my mantelpiece!

My favourite!

I am sooo chuffed with all of my purchases but my favourite has to be the gilt mirror for a tenner!! All together it came to £50 and once my Dad has worked his magic I will have blackboards and mirrors to use not only for the wedding but for the house too. The white mirror is already resting on the mantelpiece. My only problem now is stopping my mum putting them up at her house when I take them over for Dad to renovate!

So, sorry for the very short post but I hope I’ve inspired you just a little bit to embrace pre-loved goodies. You can find some fantastic stuff if you take the time to look and donate to charity in the process. Win win :-)

Till next week

DIY Details

Hello again,

This week I have been focussed on the DIY details that we will be incorporating in to our wedding. I have always known that I wanted to make things to include in our day to make it personal, but now the day is drawing closer I realised I needed to define exactly what I was going to do an try to put some sort of time span on individual projects. Consequently I have spent an unhealthy, rather large amount of time on pinterest and browsing a new purchase…

Love love this book!

Beautiful Bridesmaids!

Hello again!

This week I thought I’d talk about bridesmaids. I am having two bridesmaids, my best friend Bex and then my little cousin Millie. I asked Bex to be my maid of honour as soon as me and Dave got engaged. A very over excited text message, something along the lines of “Dave asked me to marry him!!! Get ready to be a bridesmaid!!!”  was sent and very quickly I got an equally excited reply  :-) As Millie was only 7 months old at the the time her reaction was less exuberant. But now she is two she is becoming a lot more interested in the whole process, especially the pretty dresses.

Initial idea

Me and Bex began a long facebook message feed back and forth with ideas and dresses we liked. We both have quite similar tastes so all the dresses we were choosing were quite similar. Only having one adult bridesmaid did make it easier to choose a dress because I only had to cater to one style and size. Having said that though, more and more people are going for mismatched dresses for their maids and I think it looks really nice when done well.

Mismatched dresses

We both noticed a large amount of yellow in the shops in the spring and summer of this year, which suited me perfectly! So we decided a shopping trip sooner rather than later was in order. I knew that I didn’t really want traditional “bridesmaid dresses” and ideally I wanted a dress that Bex would be able to wear again. So highstreet it was. We decided a day trip into Birmingham was a good place to start, it had all the shops we had been looking at online and I knew where everything was.

We had a fantastic day! Including a lovely lunch at Jamie’s Italian. We found so many gorgeous dresses and Bex tried on a wide variety of different styles. In the end it was love at first sight for both me and Bex when we saw this dress from Coast.

"The one"

I have to say that the model in the picture does not do this dress justice! Bex looked gorgeous in it, it suited her figure perfectly! She absolutely loved the swishy net skirt and I knew straight away this is a dress she would wear again. What I am hoping to do for the wedding is change the sash in the middle to a white one. That way it will tie in to Millie’s dress.

I haven’t bought Millie’s dress yet. I am waiting till closer to the time to make sure it fits! But I am thinking classic bridesmaid style dress, white with a yellow sash. Something like this with a sash in the daffodil yellow.

Me and Bex are planning a girly night soon to discuss shoes and something to wear on top as April may not be the warmest! I am also in the process of planning a way to get Millie to walk behind me down the aisle, maybe a trail of sweets tied onto my dress ;-)

Till next week

DIY Stationary.

Hello everyone,

The job on my mind this week has been stationary. In an earlier post I discussed our save the date cards, which turned out to be a bit of a mammoth task. But I was determined to  make our other wedding stationary. So with around 12 months to go I decided it was time to start thinking about what we wanted and what I would need. I know this seems like quite a long time in advance but knowing how long the save the dates took I wanted to get a head start. So began my internet search for inspiration, this lead to the discovery of a very talented lady…

A country house wedding…with a difference!

Hi everyone,

Another busy week and another wedding! This time the wedding of another friend from my PGCE teacher training. What I forgot to mention last week is that Kelly (last week’s bride) and Clare (this week’s bride) were bridesmaid for each other!

Clare and John’s wedding was very different from Kelly and Tom’s but just as fabulous and I enjoyed every minute of it! Read on to find out more…
